So of course you will all have guessed that the Pyros are playing again this year at the brilliant Ar Ais Aris festival in Buncrana, Co Donegal, our home town. The past two years have been great and we are all really looking to 2008.
But I do know there are people who read this who do not know who the Pyros are or even where Buncrana is. There is a Pyros map below that has information on the various members of the band and places important in our early years Click HERE
If you zoom out you can see just where Buncrana is. But apart from the wonderful location, what is so special about this little seaside town? Well, since 2006 a jewel in Buncrana’s crown in the Ar Ais Aris festival. Ar Ais Aris in Irish means “back again” and it has one wonderful mission; to show pride in the town itself and celebrate the local musicians who have made it special. And what an honour it is to be part of that large group of people. The core of the music is traditional and those who go on to be great ambassadors for Buncrana, have taken the it all over the world.
This little segment from RTE Television’s Nationwide show from last year gives more of an insight into this brilliant festival.
