December 24 2003 Issue Twelve Santa is coming, Santa is coming!. Time flies around these parts I can tell you. It only seems like a few weeks ago that we were preparing for Thanksgiving. Well ok it was only a few weeks ago. But Christmas is finally here and I am very excited. For me it has felt a little like Christmas for some time with all the cool CDs I get in the mail and if 2004 is as good as this year then we are all in for some wonderful music. This week's newsletter will be a lot shorter than our usual meanderings you will be glad to hear. I know you are all busy buying last minute gifts and thinking of excuses for not picking up crazy Aunt Gilda at the airport. (I must apologize in advance to anyone who really has a crazy Aunt Gilda as my character is purely fictional and for the purposes of filling up the newsletter so I can get to airport and pick up crazy Aunt Gertrude) On with some important pre Christmas bits and pieces though. Oops I almost forgot. Have a really peaceful and merry Christmas. I hope you all stay safe and well and happy. News this week; Steve Earle Contest closed, Eileen Ivers in Atlanta, New Links added and more pictures than ever. Again for any of you who have found yourselves a little peeved by my weekly ramblings just send a mail to info at jigtime.com and say "John go sit on the Christmas Treet" or just click on this link to unsubscribe. Unsubscribe (This is a real unsubscribe unlike many but the side effects may include dry mouth, nausea and the guilt involved in leaving me here all alone) In this Issue Steve Earle Contest Closes That time has come. I have closed the virtual doors to the Steve Earle contest and will soon set about the task of picking the winners. All winners will be notified by email and the results will be posted on the website in the next few days. But don't despair if you are one of those who missed this contest. In 2004 JigTime will be bringing you lots of chances to win plenty of prizes from all over the music globe. http://www.jigtime.com/steveearle/results.htm Eileen Ivers in Atlanta That Christmassy feeling finally hit me last Sunday night in Atlanta when I went along to hear One of my favorite people in the business, Eileen Ivers perform with her band Immigrant Soul and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. http://www.jigtime.com/eileenatlanta.htm Merlefest 2004 set to be one of the biggest Sources at Merlefest have revealed that ticket sales are looking good for the 2004 event. Big names like Vince Gill have helped spur sales for the assigned seating for next year but as always it is the variety of quality acts over the 4 days that bring in the majority of fans from all over the USA and abroad. http://www.jigtime.com/merle2004.htm More US dates from Moya to be confirmed soon There has been a huge amount of interest in tickets to the Moya Brennan shows in the US since It was announced last week that she would be touring here to promote her latest CD. Two Horizons will be release in February and Moya will be touring in late February and early March. http://www.jigtime.com/moyatour.htm Coming soon; Canadian band Pipeline keeping the music flowing, Dervish and Lunasa with US tour date announcements, Doc Watson to receive a well deserved honor and all the music news that is fit to dance to.
