I know! I am crazy. Still 3 weeks to go but thanksgiving inspired me and the fact that this year my little boy Kevin is at least amused by the lights. He did wonder why I was using some of his toys as decorations and is now charging me rent. You will be glad to hear I didn't get injured in any post Thanksgiving sales as I did all my shopping so far on Amazon. A shameless plug perhaps but I felt warm and cozy ordering the latest version of The Lord of the Rings with about 600 extra hours of footage, from the comfort of my bed. All the while I was watching news reports of crazy people queuing in the cold at 6 am outside their local Wal-Mart. (not to mention beating each other up) I finally bought the DVD with free shipping at $2 less than they sold it at the store. I just love the internet. I still leave the house for live music though and have a couple of road trips planned to share with you over the next week or so. News this week: Steve Earle Contest still going strong, Alice Farrell reviews Damien Dempsey, Chris Thile and Mike Marshall hit the road, Flook and L?nasa coming to America and much more. Again for any of you who have found yourselves tired of my incessant drivel just send a mail to info at jigtime.com and say "John go and get a real job" or just click on this link to unsubscribe. Unsubscribe (This is a real unsubscribe unlike many but the side effects may include dry mouth, nausea and some guilt) In this Issue Steve Earle Contest Update We are now two weeks into the Steve Earle contest and have had so many entries it is causing a great strain in my digital mailbag. I am glad to say we have had very few wrong answers and people from as far away as Chile and the Czech Republic have got the answers right. The only US state we haven't had a correct entry from so far is Hawaii but there is still 3 weeks to go so email your pals on those lovely Isles and tell them to enter soon. http://www.jigtime.com/steveearle/steveearlecomp.htm Damien Dempsey in New York Dublin troubadour Damien Dempsey recently returned to his New York stomping grounds and turned the normally disinterested locals into a crowd baying for more. Alice Farrell took on the task of going to Rocky O'Sullivan's and fighting her way through hoards of Irish revelers to check out the show. http://www.jigtime.com/damiendempsey.htm Thile and Marshall hit the road and JigTime follows them to North Carolina While most bands are taking it easy over the next month or so Chris Thile and Mike Marshall are on tour and once again showing us all just what can be done with a couple of mandolins. JigTime will catch up with them and all my pals from Merlefest in North Carolina. You can check their tour dates and catch up with them somewhere along the way too. http://www.jigtime.com/marshallthile.htm L?nasa go from strength to strength One of my favorite Irish bands are on the road again. Fresh from their split with Green Linnett and a new album out they showcasing it and playing some old favorites. They are hitting Ireland England and Scotland in the coming weeks and then in 2004 are back in the good old USA. http://www.jigtime.com/lunasa.htm UK Sensations Flook to hit the USA Any of you who haven't heard the UK based band Flook yet are in for a great treat when they hit the States in 2004. They are quite simply one of the most exciting live bands I have seen in many years and include some of the finest exponents of trad music you will ever hear. http://www.jigtime.com/flook.htm Support JigTime Don't forget you can support JigTime in many ways.
