The PyrosHey everyone. Another week has gone by and the world is still turning.  Things are not looking great in the economy here and of course that trickles to the rest of the world faster than we would like. Jobs are being lost all across America. Yet there is hope and we are all waiting now for January 20th to see if the man that so many have pinned thier hopes on can make good his promises.  Despite the grim ecomonic news there is still that hope. I am hoping that people can at least get through this Christmas and no more jobs get lost between now and then.

While we wait, all I can do is play you some great music. So settle down and enjoy.

Rev Jeff MosierWell we made it back from Florida all safe and sound. This year's Magfest was every bit as good as we expected it to be. The rain was there for most of Thursday night and Friday but that did nothing to discourage thousands of music fans from coming out to hear some great bands. One thing about Magnoliafest and it's sister event Springfest is that there are always a few surprises. This year the big talking point was former Crooked Still cellist Rashad Eggleston and his new band. This group has to be seen to be believed. Sadly there are no recordings of the band yet but it wont be long before they are in the studio and churning out a few hits. The other cool surprise is that we are now in full throttle planning ways to bring the spirit of this great festival to Ireland.

On this week's show.

1. Ciaran Tourish - Oldtown - from Down The Line

2. The Band - The Weight

3. June Tabor - Lie Near Me - from  At The Wood's Heart

4. Matt Kearney - Nothing Left to Lose

5. Freddy Fender - Before the Last Teardrop Falls

6. Boys of the Lough - Big John's Reels - from Twenty

7. Acoustic Syndicate - A Better Place

8. Brian Kennedy - Christopher Street

9. Cerys Matthews with John Jorgenson and Stuart Duncan - An Occasional Song - from Hands Across The Water

10. Loudon Wainwright III - I'd Rather be Lonely - from History

11. Kate Rusby - Streams of Nancy - from Awkward Annie

12. Dermot Byrne - Paddy's Rambles Through the Park - from Dermot Byrne

Dr A's Secret RemediesThat week went by fast for me, I've hardly had time to draw breath between shows. But I am back with another show filled with great music. I recorded the show from my bed this week with one eye on the recording system and one on the television as the final presidential debate was due to begin. The past few weeks have raised the game for the two candiates with the economy going a litle crazy.  But it has been the most important election in recent history for more reasons than just the recent economic problems. So to my American friends I say "VOTE Please Vote"

Music on the show this week from 3 different members of the Pyros including Kevin Doherty, Paul Rodden and former Pyro Rory McLeod (oh and myself playing bass on Rory's track) Also some great music from this side of the pond from Nickel Creek, Peter Rowan and more.  We are also just a week away from Magnoliafest in Florida and I talk a little about that on the show today. So tune in and enjoy.

On this week's show you heard

1. Mother of Mercy - Four Men and a Dog - Dr A's Secret Remedies

2. Pink Moon - Nick Drake - Pink Moon

3. When you Come Back Down - Nickel Creek - Nickel Creek

4. The Ballygar Jigs - Mick MacAuley and Winnifred Horan - Serenade

5. Outlaw Love - Peter Rowan - Peter Rowan

7. The Rocks of Bawn - Arcady - Celtic Twilight

8. Shawn Mullins - Shimmer

9. Misty - Ray Stevens
