There is so much news from Sugar Hill Records this week that I have combined it in one post. Sugar Hill is one of the most important music labels in existences today and has one of the most eclectic rosters of artists in the music world. Doc Watson: Best of the Sugar Hill Years  This is the first of two new titles in Sugar Hill's Americana Master Series which were released on July 8, 2008. Doc is one of my heroes, and it was a special privilege for me to assist with the production of this compilation!

Terry Lickona to get Lifetime Achievement Award |

 The Americana Music Association is proud to announce that eminent Austin City Limits producer Terry Lickona will receive the Jack Emerson Lifetime Achievement Award for an Executive at the organization’s 7th Annual Honors and Awards ceremony, slated for September 18 at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.
It is impossible to overstate the profound cultural effects of Terry Lickona's dedication, passion and vision. A native of Poughkeepsie, New York, Lickona made the move to Austin, Texas, in 1974. Originally an employee of Austin's public radio station KUT, he migrated to PBS and assumed the helm of the still nascent Austin City Limits in 1978. |

Flook on the Road in Europe |

 UK band Flook are heading out on the road again with some gigs in Europe to look our for in the coming months. Flook are one of the most exciting live bands in folk music and audiences always come away exhilarated after a Flook concert. The band features the amazing talents of Sarah Allen, Brian Finnegan, Ed Boyd and John Joe Kelly. John Joe also has been playing with the new band Moonlighting which features Altan's Ciaran Tourish and Dermot Byrne and amazing guitarist John Doyle.
