Across The Pond Episode 14 - Show Notes
Written by John Cutliffe
Thursday, 04 December 2008

John CutliffeHi everyone. Another week has gone by and we are now at show number 14.  I hope you have been enjoying our musical journeys around the world. I try hard to find a rich and diverse selection of songs every week many of which highlight the great musical connections we have. This week is no exception with songs written by Stephen Foster in the 1800s in the heart of America being played in recent years  by Irish men and women. We have songs with even older roots from the mountains of North Carolina and new music from traditional Irish virtuosos living in Philadelphia. Music travels the world and becomes richer for the journey. I hope you keep listening to this show in the coming months and please let me know what you like. Don't forget you can vote for your favorite track on the panel on the right hand side of this page.

Across The Pond at Thanksgiving
Written by John Cutliffe
Thursday, 27 November 2008

TurkeyHappy Thanksgiving everyone. While I know we don't celebrate this very American holiday in Ireland, it is nice to spend some time thinking of what we should be thankful for. I know too that the economy is bad. I know of two friends of mine who have lost their jobs in recent weeks. While there is not really a good time to lose your job, the last few weeks before Christmas is probably the worst, especially when you have children. So for those of us who have enough work to live on and enough to eat we should definitely be thankful. And we should think of those less fortunate.

On the show this week you will meet my son Kevin and my stepson Aubrey. You will also hear some great music from both sides of the Atlantic. So please vote for your favourite in our poll on the right hand side.

Have a very peaceful thanksgiving folks.
