WELCOME TO THE MAGFEST PODCAST

ABOUT THE SHOW
Jim Lauderdale and John CutliffeMy name is John Cutliffe and I am a musician, producer, writer, photographer and all round idiotic Irishman. Some of you may know me from being one of the two producers of the successful Hands Across The Water project which brought musicians from all over the world together to help children orphaned by the Tsunami in 2004. Some of you may know me as tour manager for one Ireland's most successful traditional Irish bands, Altan. A few of you may know my name as the photographer of pictures on CDs and websites from people like Altan, Ryan Holladay, Ciaran Tourish, Rosanne Cash, Merlefest and more. But if you have come to this site you will know me from my religious visits to my favorite festival in all of America. Each October I make the journey south from Atlanta to be among my friends and family at Magfest.
So I thouht I would start a podcast to keep you all up to speed with the festival and any news wemight hear about it. I invite you to share your own experiences with me as I do these shows at our Blog. Enjoy the music.

ABOUT THE FESTIVALS (from the official Magfest Website)
The goal of Magnolia Music & Events is to present great music festivals  which will create and foster an “intentional music community”.

These music festivals are designed to be enhanced by the beautiful natural settings where they are hosted.
The best description of the music we emphasize is Americana or Grassroots, which includes a flavorful, rich blend of new & traditional folk, bluegrass, newgrass, roots rock, alternative country, singer/songwriter, rhythm & blues, Cajun, and Celtic music plus a few things that defy description.

We strive to adhere to and respect the great traditions of traditional or American Roots Music, while offering a completely contemporary approach & outlook to all aspects of our productions.
Over the years a core group of “family favorite” performers who join us at each festival has evolved, appearing along with a rotating lineup of other established “stars” in Americana .
P
lenty of exciting, fresh soon-to-be-known musical discoveries are also included.

Trade organizations memberships include the North American Folk Music & Dance Alliance, The Americana Music Association, and the International Bluegrass Music Association.

We offer a high-quality, broad-based choice to those seeking honesty, integrity, intimacy, truth and most of all, healing of the body, mind, and spirit through the power that is music & community
.
"Ours is not a better way, but only another way"
